MEET THE FOUNDER
Barbara C. Matthews is the Founder and CEO of BCMstrategy, Inc. She authored the patent for quantifying policy risk for predictive analytics purposes that forms the foundation for the BCMstrategy, Inc. toolkit. She is also a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council and a Life Member of both the Council on Foreign Relations and the Bretton Woods Committee.
Barbara is a respected global financial policy leader and innovator with deep subject matter expertise in geopolitics and cross-border financial regulation and economic policy. She has served in senior positions in the United States government both in the Congress and in two Executive Branch agencies (Treasury and State). She served as Senior Counsel to the House Financial Services Committee. She also had the honor to serve as the first U.S. Treasury Attache to the European Union (in Brussels), with the U.S. Senate-confirmed diplomatic rank of Minister-Counselor.
Prior to her government service, Barbara was the first Banking Advisor and Regulatory Counsel to the Institute of International Finance, Inc. where she was a global negotiator, consensus-builder, and subject matter expert regarding derivatives regulation and bank regulatory capital. She has also run KPMG's Regulatory Center of Excellence (Americas) and held a Ford Foundation Fellowship in International Law.
A graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, she holds two law degrees from Duke University's School of Law: a J.D. in U.S. law and an LL.M. in Comparative and International Law. She has published multiple law review articles and book chapters through the course of her career. She has chaired meetings and delivered speeches on five continents and has been interviewed by major global media.
